Four generations of foundry experience.

Nittand Casting Works is a family-operated Chennai foundry. The business has operated for more than 35 years under the NCW name, while the family's foundry experience extends further back through an earlier enterprise.

Practical experience passed from one generation to the next.

Today, the fourth generation is actively involved in running and developing the company. That continuity gives NCW a combination of long-standing shop-floor knowledge, established industry relationships and a forward-looking approach to process control and customer service.

Our focus remains straightforward: understand the drawing, develop a practical casting route, control the metallurgy and deliver a casting that meets the customer's real application requirement.

Responsive manufacturing

Urgent castings in as little as 7–14 days.

Speed of service is a core NCW strength. For suitable jobs, we can prioritise development and production to support urgent customer requirements, with deliveries possible in approximately 7–14 days depending on casting size, grade, quantity, pattern readiness, heat treatment, inspection and overall complexity.

Share an Urgent Requirement

A Chennai foundry focused on stainless & alloy steel opportunities.

NCW works with demanding industrial casting requirements where alloy chemistry, moulding practice, feeding and finishing all matter. We welcome development and repeat-order enquiries for steel and special-alloy sand castings.

Steel casting capability

Custom stainless steel, alloy steel & high-alloy castings

Our engineer-to-order approach is suited to components where the customer supplies a drawing, material grade, quantity and service requirement. Casting routes are developed around geometry, alloy, section thickness and required inspection.

Core search capabilities: stainless steel sand castings, alloy steel castings, heat-resistant steel castings, high chromium–nickel castings, custom industrial steel castings and special-alloy foundry development.

Regular in-house envelope
10–350 kg

From medium-weight components to substantial industrial castings.

NCW's regular in-house casting range is approximately 10 kg to 350 kg per casting. Requirements above 350 kg can be reviewed as special projects. Where appropriate, NCW can coordinate larger requirements with established peer foundries using our industry experience and relationships, while keeping the technical and commercial route clearly defined with the customer.

Rough castings by NCW. Machining coordinated when required.

Our primary manufacturing focus is rough and fettled castings. When a customer needs a machined component, NCW can coordinate suitable external machining support on a case-by-case basis.

Primary supply

Rough & fettled castings

NCW is fundamentally a casting manufacturer. Components can be supplied in the rough/fettled condition after the agreed foundry finishing, heat-treatment and inspection stages.

Customer support

Machining through trusted partners

Where a customer requires machining, NCW can coordinate with established external machine shops and manage the route as part of the overall supply requirement. Feasibility, tolerances, inspection and responsibility are agreed for each project before order acceptance.

Practical foundry capability from pattern to finished casting.

A flexible manufacturing route designed for varied, engineer-to-order work rather than a fixed catalogue of components.

01

Drawing & Pattern Review

Review of component geometry, pattern requirements, mould orientation, cores, feeding approach and practical manufacturability.

02

Sand Moulding & Cores

Job-specific mould and core preparation for intricate cavities, internal features and varied industrial geometries.

03

Induction Melting

Controlled melting with chemistry correction and spectrometer verification, particularly important for stainless and high-alloy grades.

04

Pouring & Feeding

Gating, risering, sleeves and pouring practice selected around alloy behaviour, section size and casting geometry.

05

Fettling & Finishing

Shakeout, cutting, gouging, grinding and casting cleanup to prepare components for inspection and downstream requirements.

06

Heat Treatment & Stress Relieving

In-house heat-treatment capability supports stress relieving and job-specific thermal cycles where required by grade, casting geometry or customer specification.

Heat treatment capability

Heat treatment & stress relieving in the production route.

NCW can incorporate heat treatment and stress relieving into the casting route where the material grade, component geometry or customer specification requires it. The required cycle is agreed against the applicable grade, drawing and customer requirement.

Our in-house furnace gives us greater control over scheduling and helps reduce unnecessary external movement of castings during urgent production programmes.
